First of all, thank you all so much for all the Happy Father's Day wishes. It was a tough day, but thanks to my good friend Joseph for getting me out of the house. We took a long bike ride down to the south end of the beach, back up around the loop in Wrightsville Beach, and then some. I would say all together, we traveled a good 15-20 miles and I was certainly in a much better state of mind when I was done. Exercise certainly uplifts your soul. As you all know Wednesday June 23rd is Kayleigh's birthday and what I feel would be a good gift for Kayleigh up in Heaven is that every single one of you share her story with someone you know, don't know or needs to know so that they too can be touched by an Angel. One thing that I know for sure, and I am sure Aimee would agree with me, is that we will never stop sharing Kayleigh's story with the world. I am so excited because next weekend, my Mom and Dad will be venturing out to Wilmington to spend the weekend with me and all my great friends. It will be their first time coming out here and we have some exciting events planned. A good handful of us are all gonna go out to eat at a beautiful restaurant downtown on the waterway to enjoy the beautiful sunset and then dive in to a delicous "Healthy" home made cake made with love by my mom to celebrate Kayleigh's birthday. It is going to be wonderful and I am so looking forward to having my friends and family there with me. Other events for the weekend are not yet set in stone, but here are some of the options we may be doing: Airlie Gardens , Battleship North Carolina , Fort Fisher Aquarium , Exercising at O2 Fitness , Walking the Loop and the beach in Wrightsville Beach , and other exciting times. I was in a deep conversation yesterday with a close friend and we were chatting about both of our daughter's situations and it brought me back to the post that I wrote the other day about being positive and not allowing the negatives in life hold you back to doing what is good in this world. After sharing this information with him, I could see his attitude completely turn around. He had been dwelling on the negatives of his situation and not focusing on what blessings he should be grateful for having. I told him that I found a rock that sits in my Jeep that whenever I look at it, it reminds me to thank God for all the amazing things that I am grateful for. My rock allows me to start my day off on a good note instead of waking up and dreading all the negative issues at hand. Some people have asked me lately how I can be so strong after losing my daughter only a short year ago and after replying to a F acebook message today, it dawned on me as to why that is the case. I feel like the time that I would spend crying out to the world to comfort my sorrows is wasted time to share God's love, strength and beauty. When you think of God's image, do you see Him crying, complaining, angry or anything negative, or do you see Him as strong, filled with love and filled with all the right words to say to anyone with a question? I can't believe we are approaching one year since Kayleigh went to Heaven. Time has flown by so fast as it feels just yesterday when we set off those pink balloons in to the air to remember our sweet little Kayleigh. Thanks to Bo Dean , he has put together a special evening for me at 6:30pm next Tuesday over at O2 Fitness in Mayfaire. He has gathered many of my clients and friends to celebrate Kayleigh's miraculous journey by letting off pink balloons again with notes attached to touch more people. We would love for all of those who joined in last year to do the same and send in your photos so I can post them for all to see. Now I have a piece of Kayleigh etched in to my skin forever. I always knew this is what I wanted, but finally found an artist out here in Wilmington (Robbie Kass) who does a really good job compared to the guys I trusted out in Charlotte. Anyhow, I thought I would share my new piece of artwork with you all. Believe it or not, it only took 25 minutes but it hurt more than the whole 16 hours (2 - 8hr sessions) that is took to do my arm sleeve tattoo. Go figure!
