Spring has sprung, flowers are blooming and so are the salads at Mill Creek Cafe! The Berry Chicken Salad joined the menu lineup today.

Imagine you are walking by yourself through the fields of a horse pasture that is over 200 acres in size. It is a cool and breezy day, but spring is in the air and the warm weather is peaking through just around the corner. You find yourself in a peaceful state as you soak in all the beauty around you. As you climb and descend the rolling hills of the Fredon, NJ country side, your attention is distracted by a ribbon that is gracefully blowing in the wind. As you change course and approach this dancing ribbon, you notice half of it is buried deep in the muddy terrain. Grasping tightly, but gently pulling it out of the undisturbed earth only to find a beautifully handwritten note attached to the other end. The North Cedar Post Prom Committee will be hosting their annual cake auction prior to the 7-12 vocal concerts at 6:30pm tonight (Thursday, March 11). Come out to the Debbie Harms Theatre at the North Cedar Middle School (Clarence, IA) to get in on the bidding fun!! Mill Creek Cafe is donating this Spring Cupcake Bouquet to the auction. Delicious white cake cupcakes, topped with buttercream frosting and crystal sugar! YUM!! All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the North Cedar Post Prom Party.

Mill Creek Cafe was very pleased to host the Red Hat Society ladies from Mechanicsville today!! This group of gals has been getting together for the past six years and has over twenty members! We'll try anything once....and this was definitely a great try! Our panini maker will definitely be seeing more action in the near future. The Turkey Vegetable Panini was a hit! Thick honey wheat bread loaded with roast turkey, lettuce, provolone and tomato and slathered with pesto mayo..YUM!

Were you wondering? We thought you were! Yes, the noodles for the beef & noodles last week WERE homemade! :-)

Happy Valentine's Day (a day late) from the Mill Creek Gals. Thank you to all who attended our very first Mill Creek "event". The Valentine Dinner was very well attended and we received some wonderful compliments on the food and service (thanks kids!). If you missed it, please keep an eye out for our next events in the coming months. To make your mouth water a bit we'll share the menu from last night. Selection of appetizers Virgin Bloody Mary's, Strawberry Daquiris and Pina Coladas Fresh spinach salad with mandarin oranges, fresh strawberries, slivered almonds and feta, drizzled in our homemade raspberry vinaigrette. The main course featured a choice of Grilled Bruschetta Chicken or Maple Glazed Stuffed Pork Roast, accompanied by Twice Baked Potatoes and Bacon Wrapped Green Beans in a Sweet Garlic Sauce. Roll and butter Desserts included a delicious Rocky Road Tart Cherry Cheesecake and Boston Cream Pie. Hope to see you soon!!

Wednesday we celebrated our first "ice cream treats afternoon". We stayed open until 4:30pm and were able to enjoy the company of some folks who wouldn't otherwise be able to visit us. Brownie sundaes and rootbeer floats were a great way to end the day!

Jamie has been busy this week baking, baking and baking some more. Apple pie is one of her specialties and has proven to be VERY popular with the Mill Creek customers!! Stop in soon to try one of her delectable creations.

Special events will be a frequent highlight at the Mill Creek Cafe! Our very first will be "The Mill Creek Cafe Valentine Dinner." Couples can enjoy a scrumptious, all inclusive meal for $25. The second day of business was even better than the first...who could have imagined?? These little guys sold out fast. As we sample items for our menu we will be sure the tenderloin is a frequent visitor!

The Mill Creek Cafe opened for business today, Thursday, February 4, 2010. The building has come a long way from where we started last spring, but a lot of hard work by so many has paid off. We look forward to the days ahead...and lots of yummy food!!
